Description

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a "Legacy of Fury" Stonewall Brigade ranger-led driving tour on Saturday, September 14, 2024. This 2-hour tour will begin at 2:00 pm. Meet at the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation Museum & Visitor Center, 8437 Valley Pike, Middletown, Va. The group will follow the park ranger’s car and caravan to several spots on the Cedar Creek Battlefield.

The Stonewall Brigade became famous during the Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1862, under the leadership of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. By 1864, the combat experienced brigade was condensed down to a single regiment. The remaining soldiers were part of Jubal Early's Confederate Army of the Valley and fought at the Battle of Cedar Creek. Retrace their movements across the ridges and roads surrounding Middletown in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

This is the second tour in a trio of Confederate focused approaches planned for the 160th commemoration of the 1864 Shenandoah Valley Campaign. October's tour will follow the battle lines of General Kershaw on the south end of the battlefield.

This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
