Description

Fort McHenry is going to the dogs for National Park Week! Join us on Saturday, April 27, 2019 for BARK Ranger Day and find your park with your four-legged friend.

Beginning at 11:00 am there will be a 'Find Your Bark' Scavenger Hunt where you and your pup can decode riddles around the park for a chance to win a special prize!  Then, at 12:30 pm, go on a Ranger-led 'History With the Hounds' dog walk and learn more about the history of Fort McHenry and its preservation as a national treasure.  Along the way you'll learn about good canine habits for visiting National Parks and can snap a #StarSpangledSelfie with your dog and the Star-Spangled Banner flag flying over the fort.

Visit the National Park Service tent to learn more about the Fort McHenry Paw Patrol program - a unique volunteer opportunity for dog lovers and their canine friends! Paw Patrol volunteers provide education, assistance, and information while walking through the park and demonstrating good canine behavior.  Paw Patrol volunteers act as representatives of the National Park Service and Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine and proudly wear their uniform while on duty - a t-shirt for you, and a special Paw Patrol bandana for your dog!

Look for us under the National Park Service tent near the main gate entrance. All programs and materials are free and open to the public. All dog breeds are welcome. Pets must be on a leash not exceeding six feet in length. Check out our pets page for tips and guidelines for bringing your pet to the park.
