Description

Join National Park Service Naturalist Jerry Hightower for a walk through time. As  you walk through the forest and cross over Sope Creek try to imagine a bustling industrial area. Discover what it was like to work in the mills, the process of making paper, and more. Learn about the uses of plants along the trail as medicine, dyes, and more. The old stone ruins have many stories. What happened in July 1864 and what happened to poor Johnny Dickerson a decade later? Find out the facts along with a fable or two as we explore along Sope Creek.

There are no restroom facilities at this location.

Remember to dress for the weather and wear very comfortable hiking shoes. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and your activity level. You may wish to bring binoculars, hand lens, notebook, and camera.
