The Southern Campaign of the Revolution National Heritage Corridor connects many of the Carolinas’ Revolutionary War sites, including battlefields, historic communities, farmsteads, and landscapes that reflect the cultural and natural environments of North Carolina and South Carolina in the latter half of the 18th century.
Designation:
National Heritage Area

Designated in 2023, the Southern Campaign of the Revolution National Heritage Corridor seeks to contribute to the protection, preservation, and interpretation of important historic and cultural resources and sustainable economic growth in the region.

The American victory in the South provided much of the leverage necessary to upset the old British imperial order and set in motion the most ambitious experiment in representative government in history. Southern Campaign NHA explores the influence of military events in the Southern Campaign on American victory in the Revolutionary War, diversity of military strategies and combat styles in the Carolinas, intense civil strife between patriot and loyalist Carolina residents, and the peril and potential presented to American Indians and African Americans by the Revolution.
