14th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count Join us on Saturday February 19, 2011 at 10 am and 2 pm for bird watching and fun. The Pipestone National Monument will be hosting an event in conjunction with The Great Backyard Bird Count, a nationwide event that takes place every year to help document the changing patterns of birds in winter. There is no registration and all levels of birdwatchers are welcome! A Park Ranger will give a short presentation on how you can participate in this national event followed by a bird watching activity on the Circle Trail at the park. Bring the whole family out to watch birds for at least 15 minutes or for as long as you like. A listing of birds found in the Pipestone area will be available at the Visitor Center and don't forget to bring your binoculars! Can't make it to the Monument on the 19th at the designated times? You can participate in The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) between February 18th and 21st, 2011 by going to www.BirdCount.org to learn more about participating in this event. This program will be held at the Pipestone National Monument Visitor Center, 36 Reservation Ave, Pipestone, Minnesota. Visitors are reminded park entrance fees or NPS passes are required to participate at special events.
