A Typical Field Trip

9:30 School group arrives, lead teacher presents confirmation letter to ranger in Bear Gulch Visitor Center on east entrance to obtain parking permits for each vehicle.

Teachers and chaperones are greeted by park educator(s) and briefly review the plan of action for the day. Students, teachers, and chaperones may use restroom facilities and fill up water containers at this time. If necessary, students are split into smaller groups to accomodate the park policy of no more than 35 people on the trail at once. Students, teachers, and chaperones do one last check to make sure they have everything they need during the hike.
10:00 Park educator(s) begins opening discussion with students and covers park rules and safety considerations. Park educator(s) leads the group to the trailhead and begin the students on their memorable and educational visit to Pinnacles.
11:15 Break for snack
11:30 Begin hiking back towards Bear Gulch Visitor Center. The park educator(s) will stop less frequently and provide closing information during the return trip.
12:00 School groups have the option of eating their lunch in the Bear Gulch picnic area before departure.
12:30 School group departs and anxiously awaits the next opportunity to visit Pinnacles National Park!
