Schedule a Program

The first step in scheduling a program is selecting the dates for your in-class visits and your park visit. When you choose the dates, please remember:

  • Program Requests must be received 30 days in advance.
  • Groups larger than 35 students must be split into smaller groups for in-class and park visits.
  • During park visits, there must be 1 adult chaperone for every 10 students.

After you choose the dates for your program, please print the program request form, fill it out completely, and return it to the park via mail or fax at least 30 days in advance of your requested date.

After you send in your request form, we will check to make sure that there are no scheduling conflicts. If there are none, your group will be scheduled into the park’s education calendar. You should receive confirmation from us within about two weeks.

When you arrive at the park, please bring your fee waiver to check in at the visitor center or ranger station. The ranger on duty will issue a permit for each vehicle in your group; please display the permits in the windshields of the vehicles.

Before your program, the following materials will be sent to you:

Confirmation Letter

This letter confirms the date, time, and park entrance for the program. Educators should present this letter to the ranger in the Bear Gulch Visitor Center on the east side or the Chaparral Ranger Station on the west side to obtain parking permits for each vehicle affiliated with the school.

Educator’s Preparation Guide

This guide provides pre-visit activities teachers can do with their class before visiting the park, a vocabulary list of terms used in the three day programs, logistical information answering frequently asked questions, emergency procedures and ideas on how to wrap up the educational experience the students have had at Pinnacles.

Park Information

Teachers will also receive information from the park’s Bear Gulch Visitor Center to provide them with additional background knowledge of the park resources and a park brochure with a trail map and trail descriptions. If you send in a program request and do not receive confirmation of your program within two weeks, please call us at (831)389-4485 ext. 262.
