Rinconada Canyon closed for trail maintenance Monday-Friday, Sept. 4-21, 2018Date Posted: 9/4/2018 For visitor safety, the trail will be closed to the public on weekdays when the Southwest Conservation Crew and NPS staff are working on the trail and using heavy equipment to make improvements. The trail will be open for hiking over weekends.
Visitors please take precautions to secure your vehicle and valuables, as you would in any city.This is an urban park. Do not invite a thief. Do not leave valuables visible inside your car. Be sure to lock your vehicle and set car alarm. Increased parking lot patrols by park rangers have been effective in preventing recent break-ins.
Stage II Fire Restrictions Effective ImmediatelyThe following are prohibited: Lighting or maintaining an open flame. The use of petroleum-fueled stoves, grills, or any heating device. Use of fireworks, explosives, fuses, etc. No smoking outside VC nor on trails. Smoking only allowed inside vehicles.
Attention Visitors, Cab drivers, Uber drivers, and transportation service driversDO NOT drop off your passengers at the visitor center. No trail access. Visitors must be driven to a trail system from the visitor center. If passengers want to go to the visitor center, WAIT FOR THEM in the parking lot until they come back out.
Visitor Use Management PlanThe draft visitor use management plan, to formalize a trail system and manage public use, is being edited. Public meetings have not yet been scheduled. Please visit the NPS PEPC website for detailed information.
