PETERSBURG, Va. — The Eastern Front Tour Road south of Route 36 will remain closed to all motor vehicles through late October to support scheduled maintenance and repairs following flood damage from storms in mid-July.
While the road is open to pedestrians and bicyclists, there may be temporary closures for everyone when crews are addressing sinkholes, resurfacing, or restriping the pavement. The trail system remains open, with access points at Hickory Hill and the Eastern Front Visitor Center.
The Eastern Front Visitor Center is expected to close for a few days in mid-October while parking lot improvements are completed. Please check www.nps.gov/pete and our social media channels for updates and alerts.
Your cooperation is essential. Please follow all posted signs and the directions of flaggers during this work. All projects are outdoors, weather-dependent, and subject to change.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements. For questions, contact Petersburg National Battlefield at PETE_Info@nps.gov or call 804-732- 3531.
