Ford Island Bus Tour

If you want to see the USS Oklahoma and USS Utah Memorials on Ford Island and do not have an Active-Duty Military ID, you must reserve seat/s for the Ford Island Bus Tour, as these sites are located on Ford Island, an active duty military base. This program is fully guided and escorted by National Park Service Rangers in careful coordination with the US Navy.

This tour offers a special trip to visit these less-visited sites up-close with a park ranger. Visitors will board a motor coach from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center to travel to Ford Island for a 90-minute round-trip guided tour to some of the most fascinating “hidden gems” of Pearl Harbor National Memorial.

Beyond the striking white walls of the USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor National Memorial Park Rangers work to preserve and interpret the quiet USS Oklahoma and USS Utah Memorials, which share the story those battleships suffered, and six historic officer bungalows which remind visitors of neighborhood life before, during, and the day of infamy.

• Ford Island is an active duty military installation and as such, reservations via recreation.gov are required and are non-transferable.

What is the Ford Island Bus Tour

This tour offers a special trip to visit these less-visited sites up-close with a park ranger. Visitor will board a motor coach from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center (1 Arizona Memorial Place) with Park Rangers and travel to Ford Island for a 90-minute round-trip tour to some of the most fascinating “hidden gems” of Pearl Harbor National Memorial. 

Visitors will disembark the bus at predetermined locations for a short walk from the parking area to the USS Utah and USS Oklahoma Memorials. Visitors must remain with the escorted group at all times and refrain from photographing private residences.

This tour includes the USS Utah Memorial and the USS Oklahoma Memorial. 

 

When do the Ford Island Bus Programs Run?

This program is time and capacity dependent. Limited to 25 people, this program runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15 - 5 p.m. 

Please note, that this program conflicts with the 2:30, 3 & 3:30 p.m. USS Arizona Memorial Program. Based on the return time of the above mentioned USS Arizona Memorial Programs, you may not be able to make the Ford Island Bus Tour. 

This tour is conducted on Ford Island, an actie duty military installation and may be cancelled at short notice due to base security concerns. 

 

How to make a Ford Island Bus Tour reservation

For the remainder of 2022, our non-profit partner Pacific Historic Parks has offered to help keep the Ford Island Bus Program tour reservation fees at a reduced cost. Reservations will require a $1 per person reservation fee. This fee is charged and kept by recreation.gov; it does not transfer to the National Park Service.  

Reservations via recreation.gov are required. 
Everyone, including infants and small children require a reservation. 
 

Tickets are non-transferable and not for resale. Ticket reservations may not be made by commercial operators or agencies except as provided under the terms of a Commercial Use Authorization with the park.
 

Recreation.gov is the only official reservation website for Pearl Harbor National Memorial’s Ford Island Bus Tour. 

• Visit the page for Ford Island Bus Tour reservations.
• Click Sign In or Sign Up to log in to your account or create a new one.
• Click the Calendar Icon button under the Date field. Update the number of tickets you are reserving under the Quantity field. The current limit is 5 tickets per reservation per day. Everyone needs a ticket, including infants and small children.
• If you are navigating recreation.gov and see a "Not Yet Released" notification, there should be an alert that will tell you when those tickets will be available. If dates are yellow, tickets for those dates have not been released yet, but are within the window to preview availability, an alert will pop up on the bottom of the website informing you when the next release will be. Blue dates and program times are available.
• There is only one program time available. You should arrive at the park by 2:30 p.m. check in for your program at 3 p.m. and you will return to the Visitor Center by 5 p.m. 
• Click Add to Cart and check out as directed. There is a $1 per ticket non-refundable program management fee. This fee is not collected by the National Park Service, it is collected by Recreation.gov and kept by Recreation.gov.
• Check your e-mail and print your QR Code for check in at the Ford Island Bus Tour desk within the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. It is strongly recommended that you arrive on site at least 1-hour prior to your scheduled program time. Your program time is when the check in process begins and the tour bus is set to depart. If you do not arrive and check in early for your program on time, you will miss your opportunity to participate. Your QR Code will be located in a pdf attachment at the bottom of your confirmation email.

Need assistance? Park Rangers cannot create, modify, rebook, refund any reservations from Recreation.gov. If you would like to reschedule your reservation, you will need to make a new one entirely. You can contact recreation.gov for additional help via any of the options listed on their website. 

 

I have a reservation, now what?

Review the information provided in your recreation.gov reservation. There are valuable tips and tricks to make sure you have a sucessful visit to Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the on the Ford Island Bus Tour. 

It is strongly recommended that you arrive on site at least 1-hour prior to your scheduled program time. You should check in at the Ford Island Bus Tour desk 10-minutes before your program time. Your program times is the scheduled bus departure time. Your QR Code will be located in a pdf attachment at the bottom of your confirmation email.

If you do not arrive and check in early for your program on time, you will miss your opportunity to participate.

What if you miss your bus for the Ford Island Tour?

If you missed your program time, you have missed your chance to participate in that days tour. If your schedule permits you are welcome to make another reservation on another date. 

Because Ford Island is an active duty military installation, you cannot "catch-up" to the bus. Participants must be escorted by National Park Service staff at all times.

Refund Inquiries

Every effort will be made to comunicate program cancelations in advance. 

Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, National Memorial, USS Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah Memorials are fee free sites, the National Park Service does not collect any fees and cannot offer refunds.
Recreation.gov clearly states that there are no refunds or rebooking’s offered for the Ford Island Bus Tour $1 non-refundable per ticket fee.
