The following is from the 2004 National Park Service study Patriots of Color researched and prepared by George Quintal:

Noah Uncas was born 17 December 1742 in New London (CT), the son of John & Hannah (_______) Uncas.I He had a twin brother named John.II

He enlisted on 10 May 1775 in the company of Capt. John Durkee, in Col. Israel Putnam’s regiment. This company marched from Norwich CT to Cambridge shortly after the Lexington Alarm and was engaged in the Battle of Bunker Hill, stationed at the rail fence. He was discharged on 16 December 1775.III

He died before the 5 August 1782 Mohegan census, as in it his wife was listed as a ‘widow.’IV

He married Mercy ______ ca. 1764. They had at least four children:V

  • Noah: b. Circa 1768
  • Amy: b. Circa 1775
  • Esther: b. Circa 1779
