Kari Yanskey. Parashant National Monument NPS Photo.

The Parashant is a huge, not easily accessible area, and the unpredictable, low rainfall amounts mean that plants may show up after favorable weather that haven't been seen in a decade or more. Botanists have been surveying the area for well over 130 years, but even so new species are still being regularly discovered!

This is a list of the plants found on the NPS-owned portions of the Monument, compiled by Libby Powell and the botanists at Lake Mead NRA. This is a work in progress, and additional species will be added to this list.
