VAN BUREN, MO - The Tram Road south of Van Buren, also known as NPS Road 123, will be temporarily closed to thru traffic while the road undergoes maintenance beginning the week of  June 17. This temporary closure is expected to last approximately two weeks, and will be conducted on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Maintenance will include trimming trees and brushing the road edges. Heavy equipment will also be used to repair the unpaved road surface, which has become uneven and littered with potholes following the flood of 2017. The work zone will move along the road throughout the project. Work will be conducted on weekdays. The road will reopen each evening and on weekends.

The Tram Road travels the east side of the Current River south of Van Buren, providing scenic views of the river between Big Spring and Clubhouse Bluff. The unpaved road allows for a single lane of traffic and while road maintenance is being conducted, visitor traffic will not be able to safely pass heavy equipment on the road. There are only a few areas along the road where vehicles can safely turn around prior to reaching the work zone, so travelers are encouraged to avoid using the Tram Road during this time.
