VAN BUREN MO: Beginning on March 1, 2013, Federal law required Ozark National Scenic
Riverways to reduce its annual budget. The park had to reduce and absorb these cuts this fiscal year ending September 30th and into next fiscal year.As difficult as it was, the closing of Gooseneck Campground was one of the budget reduction decisions made. However, due to the support of citizens in the local communities, Gooseneck Campground will be open in time for the beginning of gigging season on September 15th.

The area volunteers, in partnership with Ozark National Scenic Riverways, have stepped up to service and maintain the Gooseneck Campground for the benefit of the visiting public. The volunteers will be responsible for lawn care, campsite maintenance, and restroom cleaning. Please do your part in keeping the campground open for use.Assist the volunteers by tidying the restroom, cleaning up your camp, and packing out your trash. The collaborative effort between local volunteers and the park will continue as long as there are funding shortfalls and the public supports the volunteers in the campground maintenance.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways is unable to service the Gooseneck water system and it will remain shut down. Please bring your own water when camping at Gooseneck.Since there is no water, camping fees will not be charged.

For more information, phone (573) 323-4236 or visit the park's Facebook page, or website at www.nps.gov/ozar. Ozark National Scenic Riverways preserves the free-flowing Current and Jacks Fork Rivers, the surrounding resources, and the unique cultural heritage of the Ozark people.
