Eminence, MO - Ozark National Scenic Riverways is partnering with Shannon County Museum and the Ozark Heritage Project to host a river community celebration at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, at the Round Spring picnic pavilion. The event is free and all are welcome.

Families with a connection to the Round Spring community are invited to bring family pictures and keepsakes to share with those in attendance. Exhibits of community and family history will be displayed beginning at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by local bluegrass band “Friends Pickin” at 8:00 p.m.

In the past three years, the event has drawn many current and former residents of the Round Spring community. These community members have had the opportunity to get reacquainted, reflect on the life of yesteryear and share their memories with others. Representatives of historic families from Round Spring include names such as Chilton, Light, Weese, Smith, Banks, Stewart, Ramsey, and others. It is a wonderful time of sharing and an opportunity for visitors to learn what life was like on the Current River decades ago.

The Celebration of the River Communities is included in a series of events to honor the important contributions made by communities along the Jacks Fork and Current rivers. In May, celebrations were held at Akers Ferry and Mt. Zion Church as part of this series. For more information about this event, contact the Round Spring Ranger Station at 573-323-8093.
