EMINENCE, Mo. -  “Where my dogs at?... Who let the dogs out?”  To find out, bring your favorite four-legged friend for a BARK Ranger Costume Hike at Alley Spring starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29.

In the spirit of Halloween, bring your pet dressed up for a special “Howl-o-ween” costume hike at Alley Spring. Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome to join in a parade around the mill.  It will also be a great opportunity to capture that perfect pet portrait in the scenic Alley area amidst the fall decorations. Best Overall, Best Homemade, and Most Unique pet costumes will be recognized.

All participants will receive an official Ozark National Scenic Riverways BARK Ranger bandana, special treat, complimentary pet excrement baggie, and a BARK Ranger certificate. All dogs must remain on a six-foot leash at all times.

National parks are exciting places for pets to visit with their family. This event celebrates dogs and promotes getting outside for a fun walk with your pet to enjoy fall splendor in the Ozarks. At Ozark Riverways, pets may not be left unattended and must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times, unless actively engaged in legal hunting activities.  For their safety, dogs do not need to be leashed while traveling in a floating vessel but should be leashed upon returning to shore.  Pet etiquette and courtesy are strongly encouraged when camping or recreating around other visitors. Please be mindful of excessive barking or aggressive behavior that could be disruptive to other visitors. Dogs that bark excessively or demonstrate aggressive behavior may be asked to leave.

Participants will learn about the B.A.R.K. code of ethics when visiting Ozark National Scenic Riverways, so you and your pet can have a safe and fun visit anytime you go to a national park.

B.A.R.K. stands for:

  • Bag your pet’s waste
  • Always leash your pet
  • Respect wildlife
  • Know where you can go
