Wind Cave National Park protects one of the longest and most complex caves in the world - and above that, the eastern tall grass prairie meets the western short grass prairie. It is also where the mountains meet the plains. The park's diverse mixture of habitats is home to coyotes and many other species of wildlife. Coyotes (Canis latrans) are intelligent and adaptable. Sometimes called “song dogs,” they communicate with each other by a variety of long-range vocalizations.
