The Technical Assistance section aims to assist archeologists and professionals in related fields with carrying out their legal and professional responsibilities. If you're an archeologist, these materials will directly pertain to your work and even help you to do it better. If you work with archeologists, or need to know about the ways archeology pertains to your work, you'll find information about collaborating across disciplines and the thinking that goes into archeological resource management.
(Pro tip: The NPS manages over two dozen cultural resource and historic preservation programs. Many of them do archeology or work with archeologists on a regular basis.)
In the Technical Assistance section you'll find:
- Laws, Regulations, & Guidelines: Lists and descriptions of key federal laws and regulations pertaining to archeology, as well as standards and guidelines for carrying them out.
- Director's Order #28A and the Archeology Guide: Information about DO #28A and the chapters for the archeology reference manual, called the Archeology Guide.
- Underwater Archeology: Assistance specific to management of submerged archeological resources.
- Online Training: Sources of online training for archeology resource management through the NPS.
- News and Publications: Waymarkers to find reports, periodicals, and books related to NPS archeology.
