Below are driving directions to follow the Oregon National Historic Trail west through Idaho, from Wyoming to Oregon. A simple map showing the general route is below the directions.
From the Wyoming/Idaho border following U.S. 30 west:
- Take U.S. Route 30 west to Interstate 15.
- Turn north onto Interstate 15.
- Take Interstate 15 west to Interstate 86.
- Turn west onto Interstate 86.
- Take Interstate 86 west to U.S. Route 93.
- Turn south onto U.S. Route 93.
- Take U.S. Route 93 south to U.S. Route 30.
- Turn west onto U.S. Route 30.
- Take U.S. Route 30 west to Interstate 84.
- Turn west onto Interstate 84.
- Take Interstate 84 west to to State Route 44 at Boise.
- Turn west onto State Route 44.
- Take State Route 44 west to U.S. Route 20/26.
- Turn west onto U.S. Route 20/26 into Oregon.
To follow the Snake River cutoff, take steps 1-10 above, then:

Take Interstate 84 west to State Route 78.

Turn west onto State Route 78 near Glenns Ferry.

Take State Route 78 west to U.S. Route 95.

Turn north onto U.S. Route 95.

Take U.S. Route 95 north to U.S. Route 20/26.

Turn west onto U.S. Route 20/26 into Oregon.
