This 3-mile loop trail takes visitors along Willow Creek, past cottonwood trees, abandoned structures, and into the Amargosa Canyon. From there, visitors can connect with the Canyon’s network of trails to put together longer out-and-back and through hikes. The Amargosa Canyon Trail, from China Ranch Date Farm, is great for bird watching, photography, and experiencing a little bit of what historic travel was like on the Old Spanish National Historic Trail.
Located 40 minutes’ drive from Las Vegas, Nevada, the Late Night Trailhead offers hikers, bikers, and horseback riders access to dozens of miles of trail though Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The network of trails crisscross the picturesque, arid landscape along the corridor of the Old Spanish Trail offering numerous options for a short walk or longer, more strenuous trek.
Situated along the Old Spanish Trail, Los Luceros Historic Site displays over 1,000 years of the area’s diverse cultural history. Indigenous, Hispanic, and Anglo-American cultures have come together here to shape not only the history, but the landscape as well. Los Luceros Historic Site is a fee site, managed by New Mexico Historic Sites.
