Obed Wild and Scenic River and Frozen Head State Park partner to offer “Lunch and Learn” Program Summer Series

Wartburg, Tennessee: Obed Wild and Scenic River will be partnering with Morgan County School Food Services and Frozen Head State Park to offer a “Lunch and Learn” program series that will take place on Fridays starting July 3rd, through July 31st, 2026.

Lunches provided are through the Summer Feeding Program that is sponsored by Morgan County School Food Services and the Morgan County Healthier Tennessee Community.

This program is available to all participants, regardless of what county they reside. Morgan County is one of the Tennessee counties that is designated a Healthier Tennessee county that is striving to encourage healthy lifestyles.

This year’s programs will include in person, ranger led programs at both Obed Wild and Scenic River and Frozen Head State Park.

All times are Eastern Time Zone

These free programs and activities will be held at the following locations:
 

Friday, July 3

11:00 a.m. (ET)

Obed Wild and Scenic River- meet at Visitor Center 208 N. Maiden Street Wartburg, TN 37887

Animals of the Forest- Join us as we learn all about the animals that call this part of the Cumberland Plateau home and what makes each one unique and able to survive here.

Friday, July 10

11:00 a.m. (ET) Frozen Head State Park- Meet at the playground near Shelter B Creek Crawl - We will be looking at stream health and all the things that make up the ecosystem. Please bring clothes/shoes that can get wet, sunscreen, bug spray and water.
Friday, July 17 11:00 a.m. (ET) Obed Wild and Scenic River – meet at Lilly Bluff Overlook Parking Lot Hike to Lilly Bluff Overlook- The Obed has one of the most beautiful overlooks in Tennessee. Join us as we take the short hike to the Lilly Bluff Overlook and enjoy the spectacular view.
Friday, July 24 11:00 a.m. (ET) Frozen Head State Park- meet at the Visitor Center 964 Flat Fork Rd, Wartburg, TN 37887 10 Essentials of Hiking- Discover the essential items you should pack when enjoying recreation in the woods. Learn about the forest ecosystem and the 10 essentials to be safe in the woods.
Friday, July 31 11:00 a.m. (ET) Obed Wild and Scenic River – meet at Nemo Picnic Area Let’s go exploring! – Join us as we explore the area of Nemo. We will venture to the old bridge and learn more about the history of this area of the park.
