Getting There

Travelling to the biggest island of American Samoa, Tutuila, takes either an airplane or boat trip.

For airflights from mainland United States, all flights convene in Honolulu, HI and then travel from there to Pago Pago International Airport.
  • To American Samoa: Helpful tip! These flights are only on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; departing at ,,,, and arriving at 9pm American Samoan Standard Time (one hour behind Hawaiian Standard Time - both do not obvserve Day Light Savings by the way).
  • From American Samoa: Since all flights to Tutuila arrive at 9pm ASST, they all depart same day as arrival - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - at 11pm ASST and are Red Eyes to Honolulu.

Tutuila Island is the biggest island in American Samoa; it has the most amenities of the three main islands.

As you can see in the map graphic above, most of the the National Park is in more rugged terain and a good distance from town centers. Therefore it is suggested that when visiting to rent a car or take a taxi, otherwise be prepared for at least a 45 minute walk to the nearest trailhead.

By visiting the National Park of American Samoa on Tutuila Island, you have everything from the Visitor Center, a variety of hiking trails, and water activities to choose from!
