Sharkfin Tower/Boston Basin                                       8-2-17

Approach and camping: Snowline in Boston Basin is at approximately 6,500-7,000’. Be careful crossing the creeks in Boston Basin, especially in the afternoon when the meltwater is highest. Both the upper and lower bivy sites are mostly snow free. The bugs are out so be prepared to spend some down time in your tent!

Routes: The approach gully for Sharkfin Tower is snow free, with 3rd class rock climbing being the option now. The SE Ridge is in excellent condition and a great alternative if you see several parties ahead of you for the West Ridge of Forbidden. There are several descent options off of Sharkfin, with downclimbing/rappelling the SE Ridge being one, and what appears to be a rappel route straight down the South Face being another. There are also rappel anchors in place for the lower approach gully.
