Boston Basin Route Conditions 08.02.2015

August 04, 2015 Posted by: Climbing Ranger

Late season conditions persist throughout the basin.

SE Ridge of Sharkfin Tower - Moat into approach gully is not an issue, gully is snowfree with some running water down low and loose rock. A small snow patch remains up to the notch below the SE Ridge. Climbing route in normal condtions with three rappel stations in place.

Sahale via Quien Sabe - Bergshrund is still passable via far right

North Ridge Forbidden

Photo: Access to the North Ridge across the Boston Glacier is more challenging than normal due to crevasses and moats. Some parties have turned around. (08/02/2015 from sharkfin tower)

North Ridge Forbidden-Boston Glacier

West/East Ridge Forbidden Peak

Unnamed glacier below West Ridge is a mess, parties are still accessing cat scratch gullies from far climbers left and avoiding most of the glacier

East ridge approach now has more bare rock exposed than normal as scene in photo below
