(Ninety Six, SC) -- Ninety Six National Historic Site will join National Parks across the country for National Junior Ranger Day, Saturday, April 25.  Throughout the day, as it is every day, the park’s Junior Ranger program will be available at the VisitorCenter.  The educational activity booklet contains games, puzzles, and questions about the historic site, and teaches children the importance of preserving and appreciating history and nature.  The activities can be completed during a park visit.  Children receive a Junior Ranger badge, certificate, and special Junior Ranger Patch after completing the booklet.  The program is free of charge.

Sustaining the Environment, a nature demonstration sponsored by the Environmental Natural Resources Management Division of Fort Gordon, Georgia, will be on display.  Local reenactors will demonstrate life during Colonial times from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  A special Ranger led battlefield tour will take place at 10:00 am.  Additional Ranger talks will take place at 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm.  Children of all ages will also be able to make a Colonial toss and catch game to take home, and take part in a special ranger activity and scavenger hunt.

The Park features two Revolutionary War battlefields, the original earthen 1781 Star Fort, an authentic 1700s log cabin, museum, ten minute introductory film, VisitorCenter with bookstore, small picnic area, and much more.  Come spend the day discovering Ninety Six National Historic Site for yourself.  The Park is located 2 miles south of the town of Ninety Six on Highway 248.
