Bridge Day Information for Boaters

With Bridge Day 2018 fast approaching on Saturday, October 20th, the National Park Service would like to ask everyone for their help in making this a safe and successful event. The NPS is asking the commercial outfitters and private boaters to refrain from stopping between the private boater ramp at Fayette Station and Flea Flicker Rapids. Historically, several BASE jumpers each year make hard landings in this section of the river and along its banks. Staying clear of this area will help to increase the safety of boaters and BASE jumpers alike.

To enjoy a safe viewing experience, the NPS asks that all trips remain above the private boater ramp on river left and "marker rock" on river right, or downstream below Flea Flicker rapid.

Please be considerate of other outfitters and private boaters by limiting the viewing time in these eddies to fifteen minutes or less.

If you plan on stopping for lunch in view of the Bridge Day event, please do so above Fayette Station rapid or below Flea Flicker rapid. For trips proceeding immediately downstream, please do so quickly and remain as far river right as possible. Please be aware of your surroundings and remember to look up!

The National Park Service considers visitor safety a top priority and appreciates your cooperation in creating a safe environment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this request, please do not hesitate to contact:

North District Ranger Frank Sellers - (304) 574-0165
Chief Ranger R. Duane Michael - (304) 465-6518.
