WASHINGTON – As the 2017 presidential inauguration approaches, the United States Park Police and the National Park Service remind visitors that federal regulations prohibit camping in all national park lands in the District of Columbia.

Per 36 CFR 7.96, camping is not permitted in most parks within the National Park Service’s National Capital Region. The exceptions include Greenbelt Park and Prince William Forest Park, where camping is permitted with proper registration.

Violators are subject to a fine and or arrest.
