Visitors to Natural Bridges National Monument on September 6 and 7, 2016, should expect delays on the monument’s entrance road and on Bridge View Drive as road work is completed.

The Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) funded project will chip seal the monument road west of the entrance as well as the entirety of Bridge View Drive.

Flaggers will control traffic on the entrance road with 15-minute delays expected.

Visitors will be able to access some, but not all, viewpoints and trailheads on Bridge View Drive during the road work. Traffic will be escorted by a pilot car and visitors should expect 45-minute delays as they enter and exit Bridge View Drive.

The monument’s visitor center and campground will remain open during the road work.

Road work schedules may change due to weather or other uncontrollable circumstances.

Jeannine McElveen, superintendent of Hovenweep and Natural Bridges national monuments, states, "We appreciate the FHWA funding for this project to chip seal roads within the monument. We ask for everyone's patience and understanding with the required delays as we work to complete this project as safely, quickly, and efficiently as possible."

Additional information regarding this road work will be posted on the monument’s official website, www.nps.gov/nabr, as it becomes available.
