Chessie

Chessie

Published by Veratis Press, Inc.

This children's book follows the kitten, Chessie, on a Pullman train where she finds both adventure and a boy who wants to take her home. Chessie was one of the most successful corporate symbols in American history. In 1933, L.C. Probert developed the ad campaign for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad’s new air-conditioned sleeping car service. His slogan “Sleep Like a Kitten and Arrive Fresh as a Daisy in Air-Conditioned Comfort” was paired with an image of a contentedly sleeping kitten.
