Flagman's Case

1950

A flagging kit had sections for carrying flags, fusees, and torpedoes. Fusees are flares that have a sharp steel spike to embed vertically into a railroad tie. A railroad torpedo is a small warning device attached to a rail. When a locomotive ran over the torpedo, its weight detonates the dynamite charge, notifying the engineer of emergency conditions.
