Uniform Hat with Badge

Carlson Company
Made for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad
ca. 1930

In the 1880s, U.S. railroads began requiring employees to wear a uniform, including a hat with badge. The cap badge identified a railroad worker by his specific occupation. The badge on this hat identifies the wearer as a baggageman.
