The Colorado River Aqueduct shaped much of the park's southern boundary. Built by over 4,000 men during Great Depression, it was an engineering wonder of its time. Its chosen route required Congress to grant right-of-way over Federal lands originating at Lake Havasu, and included underground tunnels though mountain ranges in the southeast corner of the park.
