Special Use Permits

There are several types of special use permits necessary for certain activities or events held at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The links below provide information regarding such permits.

You can make payments for permit applications online by visiting Enter "Mount Rushmore" into the search box at the top of the page and click on "Search" to display a list of our payment forms.

During 2018, no permits will be approved for special events, weddings, filming or photography during the following dates:

  • June 30 through July 5, 2018, for Independence Day events
  • August 1 through 12, 2018, during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Due to construction from August 14 through October 7, 2017, the Borglum View Terrace will not be available for special use permits, including weddings.

In addition to the above restrictions the Amphitheater will not be available for any events from September 16 through November 4, 2017, due to a bench repair project.

As of November, 2016, the Carvers' Marketplace and Carvers' Marketplace Patio will not be able to make reservations or requests for private dinners or receptions between the beginning of Memorial Day weekend through September 30th.
