Barstow, CA- Mojave National Preserve is seeking public comments on a preliminary off highway vehicle grant application for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHVMR) Division. The proposed project is a continuation of post-and-cable barrier fencing along the boundary between Razor Road Off Highway Vehicle Area and Mojave National Preserve. The fencing will allow OHV riders to identify this boundary, which has been poorly marked in the past, preventing inadvertent incursions into Mojave National Preserve, an area closed to OHV use. Part of the boundary has already been fenced through this program, and the OHVMV Division grants are an integral part of the ongoing success in protecting preserve resources and making it easy for OHV riders to respect boundary limits. The public comment period for grant applications begins March 6, 2012. The public is invited to review and comment on the preliminary application package. The Mojave National Preserve grant application can be found by going to the California State Parks website at http://ohv.parks.ca.gov. Click on the Off Highway Vehicle tab, then the Grants tab. A link to the On-Line Grant Application (OLGA) can be found mid page. Once at the OLGA site, the menu on the left contains Public Review Instructions and Reviewing Preliminary Applications information. The application for Mojave is listed under Grant Program:GCA-11, Agency: National Park Service- Mojave National Preserve, Project: Restoration. The public comment period on the preliminary grant applications ends Monday, April 2, 2012. For information or questions related to the application, contact Park Ranger Tim Duncan at (760) 252-6137. |
