Notice Regarding Rentals of Patriots Hall

Please be advised that all available dates for the rental of Patriots Hall are currently booked through the end of June. Additionally, the Special Use Coordinator is currently on leave and unable to process any new rental requests at this time.

Individuals or organizations interested in reserving Patriots Hall for dates in July or later are encouraged to contact the Special Use Coordinator beginning Tuesday, June 24. At that time, he will be available to provide assistance with scheduling, subject to availability.

History of Patriots Hall

Constructed in 1966 as part of the National Park Service’s Mission 66 program, Patriots Hall was built on the site of the original 1907 Superintendent’s quarters. It was included in the program following an assertive campaign by the Moores Creek Battleground Association. Since then, the hall has hosted numerous events such as family gatherings, weddings, and ceremonies.

Impact of Flooding on Patriots Hall

Despite being constructed on a raised mound to prevent flooding, the original planners of Patriots Hall did not thoroughly investigate the site, which had a history of flooding, including a record flood in 1945 with six feet of water. Since its construction, Patriots Hall has faced nearly a dozen floods, most recently in 2018 when Hurricane Florence brought over 35 inches of rain to the area. The flood lines are still visible if you look closely.

Patriots Hall Use Guidelines

Patriots Hall is available for rent year-round, accommodating various activities from Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. The rental includes access to 22 eight-foot tables and 128 chairs. While AV equipment is present, it is not available for use by permit holders. All activities within the facility require a permit.

Patriots Hall Rental Information

Patriots Hall is available for special events such as weddings, family gatherings, and corporate meetings. To reserve the space, complete and return a Special Use Permit Application to the Special Use Coordinator. Visit here for permit requirements and procedures.
