Wildflowers During the spring and summer Mooores Creek has many diffent wildflowers to enjoy as you vistsit the park.
Purple passionflower is a vine that grows close to the ground, making it safe for trees. Passionflower does well in sandy soils along woodland edges or open fields. Look down when you walk the history trail along the savanna and this plant might catch your eye!
Maryland meadowbeauty is commonly found in meadows, marshes, bogs, and savannas in the Southeastern US. Its flowers appear mid-summer to fall, which is when they attract pollinators of all kinds. Bumblebees are especially attracted to this wildflower. Look out over the savanna at the light purple flowers to see Maryland meadowbeauty. Lizards tail is named after its flowers and fruit, which resemble the end of a lizards tail. This plant prefers to be in swamps and near shallow water. Lizards tail can be found all along Moores Creek, especially near the earthworks.
