Get out and be active!
On February 27, 1776 the Loyalists began a long and difficult march through swamp and thicket. It is believed that they walked six miles. Want to make that walk in the park? How far is a mile? If you walk our entire trail system from the start of the History Trail, including around the Women’s Monument, walk the Tarheel Trail, and follow the side walk back to the beginning of the History Trail you have been one mile. Need to break down your mile? Need that encouragement to know just how much further you need to go? The Rangers at Moores Creek National Battlefield have already done that for you. Start at the History Trail sign to begin your mile.
When you make it to the Changing Landscape Wayside you have been 1/8 of a mile.
When you make it to the Wisely Chosen Ground Wayside you have been 1/4 of a mile.
When you make it to the Stunning Defeat Wayside you have been 1/2 of a mile.
When you make it to the trash can below the Women’s Monument you have been 2/3 of a mile.
When you make it to the start of the Tar Heel Trail (keep in mind to walk around the Women’s Monument) you have been 3/4 of a mile.
Continue around the Tarheel Trail all they way back to the beginning of the History Trail and you have completed your mile! |
