National Park Week 2012 to Feature Free Admission, Junior Ranger Day

CAMP VERDE, AZ. -The National Park Service invites visitors to enjoy, explore, and share America's national parks during National Park Week, April 21 through April 29.

Celebrating the theme "Picture Yourself in a National Park," visitors will be able to enjoy the beauty and wonder of 84 million acres of the world's most spectacular scenery, historic places, and cultural treasures for free. Locally, all entry fees will be waived at both Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments.

"America's national parks have something for everyone," said National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis. "Take a break and experience something new, enjoy some fresh air, get some exercise, and see where history happened. And, since admission is free to all 397 parks, all week long, National Park Week is a great time to get up, get out, and explore a park."

National parks will mark the annual celebration with special events and activities. Rangers at Montezuma Castle National Monument will host free children's activities from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for National Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 28.

"This is our annual celebration of America's best idea - our national parks," said Neil Mulholland, President and CEO of the National Park Foundation. "We are proud to stand with our partners at the National Park Service and encourage people everywhere to enjoy, learn from, and support our nation's greatest treasures."
