National Park Service News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - FEBRUARY 2, 2013 GREEN RANGERS YOUTH PROGRAM AT MONTEZUMA WELL Beginning March 2, the National Park Service will begin the Green Rangers Youth Program. The program provides hands-on experience to educate youth, ages 9-12 about nature and science. The program will take place at Montezuma Well, a unit of Montezuma Castle National Monument. Kids will have the opportunity to work with Park Rangers and Natural Resource managers to learn about resource stewardship and preservation. Activities will include native plant and exotic weed identification, ecological restoration, as well as work in the Native Pollinator and Traditional Garden areas. These programs will help kids develop a sense of ownership for the Verde Valley's much loved National Monuments. The Green Rangers program will require a commitment of at least two Saturdays out of the six offered. The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the following dates:
There is no cost for the program, and each session can have up to 15 kids enrolled on a first-come-first-serve basis.
