Last year, the Verde Valley Archaeology Center became an official non-profit partner of Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments and the Verde Valley Archaeology Field Institute was born. The Field Institute will allow visitors greater access to archaeological sites in the Verde Valley led by professional guides.  It is our hope people will appreciate how interconnected all the sites in the Verde Valley truly are.

Through the Field Institute we are proud to offer archaeology classes and guided hiking field seminars exploring a variety of archaeological subjects such as pottery identification, prehistoric architectural and agricultural methods, and more.

A field seminar is a hiking trip that visits outdoor venues of archaeological significance. We design all of our field seminars to highlight the beauty and drama of the archaeology of the Verde Valley. The physical demands of our field seminars will be as varied as the topics we explore. The Verde Valley offers visitors a world-class archaeological hiking experience. Our goal is to help the participant select the field seminar that will maximize their enjoyment and safety while ensuring that their skills and abilities match those of their fellow participants.
