On Saturday, September 24th, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will waive entrance fees in honor of Public Lands Day.

According to the National Public Lands Day website,www.neefusa.org, "To encourage people to join in and visit their public lands, NPLD is a fee-free day for all federal public lands and many state parks. Whether you volunteer on NPLD, enjoy some boating, hiking, fishing, or camping, or simply learn more about your public lands and the plants and wildlife that live there, we invite you to take this day to enjoy the great outdoors and celebrate the lands that give us so much."

Tuzigoot National Monument will lead nature hikes into Tavasci marsh at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. teaching Leave No Trace principles. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes for walking on uneven dirt terrain. Water and sun protection are also recommended.

Montezuma Castle National Monument will be promoting their new BARK ranger program and advocating responsible pet ownership while visiting public lands.

The National Park Service celebrates its 100thAnniversary in 2016. Over 20,000 National Park Service employees care for more than 400 of America's national parks and monuments and create close-to-home recreational and cultural opportunities.
