Pasque Flower

Prairie Home Introduction The pasque flower grows to be 3 to 6 inches high. It has a large pale lavendar flower with a yellow center disk that often blooms before there is any leaf growth in the spring. It prefers dry or mesic conditions, and is a great plant for sandy soil with good drainage. It does not do well with lots of other shade-producing vegetation or heavy grass competition. It does do well in a savanna-like system, with open oak shade. It is one of our earlier blooming flowers and often pushes its way up through late lingering snows. Blooms: March through May Find It This lovely flower can often be found on dry, south-facing slopes in early spring.
