JEROME, Ida. – On Friday, May 26, the visitor center of Minidoka National Historic Site will be open for summer hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT.

Minidoka National Historic Site is located in rural southern Idaho, about 30 minutes from Twin Falls. The park preserves a portion of the WWII Japanese American incarceration site, along with some of its historic structures.

The visitor center offers visitor information, museum exhibits, a 30-minute park film, and a small bookstore. Visitors may enjoy a self-guided walking tour on the 1.6 miles (2.5 km) gravel trail from sunrise to sunset. Educational exhibits are placed along the trail to provide information.

Park ranger-led tours of the site are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. when the visitor center is open. Tours are free with limited spots and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours last approximately 90 minutes. Bring water, sun protection, and comfortable walking shoes.

An afterhours box for brochures and the passport stamp is available across from the visitor center. Restrooms are not available when the visitor center is closed.

Minidoka National Historic Site is located at 1428 Hunt Road in Jerome, Idaho— twenty miles northeast of Twin Falls, Idaho. Admission is free. Minidoka National Historic Site protects and collaboratively manages resources related to the Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho and the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial in Washington State.
