JEROME, Ida. – On Monday, September 6, the visitor center of Minidoka National Historic Site will close to the public for the Fall season. The visitor center is currently open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am-5pm MT.
Visitors can still walk the 1.6-mile trail for a self-guided-tour from sunrise to sunset. The walking trail can be accessed any day of the week. There are outdoor exhibits on the trail for visitors to learn more about life at Minidoka and the history of the unjust incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. Please make sure to bring water, sunscreen, a hat, and good walking shoes when exploring the site.
School and organizations that interested in scheduling group visit are encouraged to email miin_information@nps.gov for more information.

The purpose of Minidoka National Historic Site is to provide opportunities for public education and interpretation of the exclusion and unjust incarceration of Nikkei—people of Japanese ancestry residing outside of Japan - in the United States during World War II. Minidoka National Historic Site protects and collaboratively manages resources related to the Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho and the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial in Washington State.
