Weather Conditions Throughout the Year

Since most visitors spend a great deal of time outdoors during a visit to Mesa Verde National Park, you'll want to be prepared for the weather. Use the chart and links below for weather information before your trip. It's always a good idea to check daily forecasts before visiting the park.

During the winter, the weather is usually mild, however, snowstorms can occur as late as May and as early as October. June through September are warm to hot, with cool evenings. Daytime summer temperatures can reach into the 90s, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August and pose a hazard. In case of lightning, the safest place to be is inside your car.
