MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, Colo.— Mesa Verde National Park and Yucca House National Monument will enact Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on July 3, 2026. In stage 2 restrictions, building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove are prohibited. This includes prohibition on all campfires in Morefield Campground and smoking in fire prone areas.

Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) fueled devices that can be turned on and off, such as stoves, lanterns, or heating devices are allowed, but only if they are UL Listed as meeting fire safety standards. You must also only use them in an area that is barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within 3 feet of the device.

These restrictions are necessary due to current and predicted weather and fuel conditions, as well as corresponding fire danger rating levels.
