Note: In response to guidance from the New York State Department of Health, the Ranger Time children’s programs scheduled for this spring are cancelled. This cancellation supports federal, state, and local efforts to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).Kinderhook’s translates from Old Dutch to English as Children’s Corner. It’s a well-fitting choice as children are the future of Kinderhook.
In recognition of this fact, the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site has teamed with the Kinderhook Memorial Library for the second year to offer our young residents an enjoyable opportunity to learn about Kinderhook’s son Martin Van Buren.
Ranger Time will be an hour-long spring activity program for children ages 3-5, held the third Thursday of each month at the Kinderhook Memorial Library (18 Hudson Street, Kinderhook, New York). Program dates are: April 16, and May 21, 2020. Ranger Time will always begin at 11 am and end at noon.
Ranger Maryalice will use children’s books, fun activities and crafts to introduce topics such as:
- What does the President do?
- Presidential campaigns
- The voting process
Each program will build upon the one before, so monthly attendance is suggested. All children are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is not required, and adult attendees are encouraged to participate.
