ATLANTA - Superintendent Judy Forte is pleased to announce the free virtual events that will take place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park to celebrate and commemorate the 92nd birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., beginning Friday, January 15, 2021 and ending on the National King Holiday, Monday, January 18, 2021.   Superintendent Forte said, “It has been a challenging year, and the life and legacy Dr. King is a source of inspiration now more than ever. We hope you will participate in our virtual programs this year and celebrate Dr. King’s birthday safely from your homes.” 
 

Schedule of Events:  

January 15, 10:00 AM– The park will host a virtual birthday party celebration in honor of what would have been Dr. King’s 93rd Birthday. Local elementary schools will participate in the program and a member of the King Family will share family stories with the students. A storyteller will present a program to the students about Dr. King's life, it will be fun and educational.  

January 17, 6:00 PM – The park will host a virtual musical tribute concert that is free and accessible online to the public. Acclaimed performing artists will perform songs that celebrate and honor Dr. King’s life and legacy. January 18, 6:00 PM – There will be a virtual tour for Topeka Center for peace and justice, a program in partnership with Brown Vs Board of Education NHS in Topeka, KS. The program will be a virtual tour of the park, including the birth home of Dr. King and the Ebenezer Baptist church. These events offer opportunities for the park visitor to engage in meaningful and memorable experiences that connect with the significant values inherent in the unique resources of Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. All events are free and open to the public.
