Superintendent Judy Forte is pleased to announce a special program that will take place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. NHS to celebrate and commemorate the 89th Birthday of Dr. King.
On Sunday, January 14, 2018 (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM) an artistic tribute concert will take place at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. The concert is free and open to the public and will feature artists honoring Dr. King in song, dance and the spoken word. The concert will take place at the Heritage Sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Dr. King’s grandfather and father presided as senior pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and Dr. King co-pastored with his father at the church from 1960 until his death in 1968.
2018 is the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s Assassination on April 4, 1968. The theme of this year’s concert will be MLK50Forward: Together we win with love for humanity. Artistic talent will focus on the hope of Dr. King’s Legacy, while celebrating the day of his birth. The concert will feature Dance, spoken word, dramatic interpretation, and people “lifting their voices” in celebration of Dr. King’s Legacy and his birthday.

This artistic tribute concert will kick-off our commemorate events as we commemorate Dr. King’s assassination by focusing on his inspiring legacy and the impact of his life throughout the world. I encourage all to join us for this free and inspiring gospel concert at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.”
