Caravan with a ranger through the LBJ Ranch!

On Saturdays and Sundays beginning July 22 through September 3, this ranger-guided program highlights the life, image, and legacy of our 36th president at home in the Texas Hill Country.

 

What is the Caravan Tour?

The LBJ Ranch Caravan Tour is a free ranger-led program where visitors drive their own vehicles in tandem following the ranger in a government vehicle. The ranger delivers program points at stops along the tour route.
The program begins at 9:30 am and lasts approximately 2 hours.

 

Cost: Free!

The program is free, but reservations are required.
Each caravan tour is limited to the 10 vehicles. (Regardless of how many passengers).

 

Meeting Location

Tour meets and begins at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, located on Highway 290 between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. The address for navigation apps is

• 199 State Park Road 52, Stonewall, Texas

The vehicle caravan then crosses the river and follows the LBJ Ranch driving route.
Please meet for the tour at 9:15 am to be ready for a 9:30 am start time.
Dress for the weather and bring water.  (Caravan tour goes rain or shine.)

There will not be a caravan tour that day. However, join us for the annual Wreathlaying Ceremony at the Johnson Family Cemetery.

 

To Make A Reservation

Call the park visitor center at [phone] ext. 244 to make a reservation. 
Please be prepared to give the following information: 

• What day would you like to join a tour? Have an alternate choice in mind if your first choice is full.
• First and last name
• Contact phone number 
• Email address 
• Number in your party (how many people) 

Reservations can be made two weeks in advance. For example, if you would like to take the Caravan Tour on August 20, you can make a reservation starting on August 6 until the morning of August 20.

If you are unable to attend, please call to cancel to allow others to join the tour.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

How many stops will there be?

The tour will include 3 or 4 stops, such as the Junction School, Cemetery / Reconstructed Birthplace, Show Barn, and Texas White House Complex.

How much walking will there be?

Stops may involve walking on gravel trails or pavement for up to 200 yards one way.  Walking routes are ADA compliant.

Are pets allowed?

Pets on leash are welcome!
